DESIGN AWARDS

Open to builder, remodeler and associate members, following are the Design Awards along with judging criteria.

1. Best Aging-in-Place Design

  • Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic appeal, and functional value.

2. Best Utility or Special Use Space 

  • Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic appeal, perceived value, marketability, and functional value.
  • Examples: laundry room, mudroom, wine cellar, pantry, playroom, coffee bar, home gym 

3. Best Bathroom Design
Two awards based on price point: Under $40,000; $40,000+

  • Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic appeal, and functional value.

4. Best Kitchen Design
Five awards based on price point: Under $20,000; $20,000-39,999; $40,000-79,999; $80,000-119,999; $120,000+

  • Judging Criteria: Creative approach, functional value, aesthetic and market appeal.

5. Best Lighting Design

  • Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic appeal, and functional value. 

6. Best Interior Design of Private Residence

  • Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic appeal, and functional value.

7. Most Creative Home Feature (new or existing home)

  • Judging Criteria: Creative approach, uniqueness, innovation, perceived value and marketability. 
  • A small feature of a bigger project.
  • Example: Feature wall, kitchen island 

8. Best New Construction Floor Plan
Three categories based on square footage: Under 1,500 sq. ft.; 1,500-2,499 sq. ft.; 2,500+ sq. ft.

  • Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic and market appeal, and effective traffic flow.
