Following are the awards for our builder members with new construction projects along with the judging critera for each.
1. Best Utility or Special Use Space
- Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic appeal, perceived value, marketability, and functional value.
- Examples: laundry room, mudroom, wine cellar, pantry, playroom, coffee bar, home gym
2. Best New Merchandised (Staged) Model
- Judging Criteria: Approach for target market, use of space, use of color, furniture and accessories.
3. Best New Basement
- Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic and market appeal and functional value.
4. Best New Primary Bath
- Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic appeal and functionality.
5. Best New Powder Room
- Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic appeal and functionality.
6. Best New Kitchen
- Judging Criteria: Creative approach, aesthetic appeal and functionality.
7. Best Twin House or Townhouse Project
- Judging Criteria: Overall conceptual plan, interior layouts, and exterior elevations.
8. Best New Single-family Home
NEW for 2023: We've divided the category into two awards to recognize the different considerations given to building a spec home vs. custom.
- Best New Custom Single-family Home
- Best New Production/Model/Spec Home
- Judging Criteria: Overall conceptual plan, interior layouts, and exterior elevations.
9. Best New Multi-family Project
- Judging Criteria: Overall conceptual plan, interior layouts, and exterior elevations.
10. Best Use of Green Building Concepts
- Judging Criteria: Best use of elements including renewable and sustainable resources, energy efficient systems, construction methods used to improve the overall performance of the home and the effort to incorporate green design elements.
