Each year, the entries for CRBRA's Best in Building Awards are judged by industry experts from out of market. The judges review the entries based on the criteria provided to all members during the entry period. They are not able to see the company that submitted each entry and are able to be completely objective in their scoring.

Chris Brown, AIA, LEED AP
b Architecture Studio (MA)

After working in Boston for more than a decade managing projects including the many facets of residential design, historic preservation, and unique commercial and institutional renovations, Chris founded b Architecture Studio in 2010. Chris has taught at the Boston Architectural College and Wentworth Institute of Technology and continues his role as educator with design jury critiques for Notre Dame and Wentworth. Chris brings knowledge, capability, and design sense to each design task. Each project is a collaboration for there is always more than one way to create new spaces.
 

Jillian Gaviani, NCIDQ, WELL AP
Senior Designer, CBT Architects (MA)

With over 10 years of professional experience, Jillian is a highly creative and strategic Senior Interior Designer specializing in multifamily residential projects in largely urban environments. Based in Boston, she has built a reputation for transforming spaces into vibrant, functional environments that enhance the quality of life for residents.  Jillian is a WELL expert at CBT, bringing an informed lens to wellness and sustainable design.

Sean Halsey
Owner/Founder, Halsey Homes (VA)

Sean and his wife Susan founded Halsey Homes in 2003. For more than two decades, Sean has shared his passion for building, educating and guiding homeowners to achieve their dream home. Sean holds certifications as a HERS Rater (RESNET), a BPI (Building Performance Institute) Building Analyst, a Certified Green Professional (NAHB), and a Certified New Homes Sales Professional (NAHB). Sean is heavily involved in the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association and was named their 2023 Pinnacle Builder.
 

Spencer Powell
CEO, Builder Funnel

Spencer Powell, Founder & CEO of Builder Funnel, grew up in his family's home building company. Born out of a need to attract customers after the 2008 recession, they built their own agency from direct mail operations to focus solely on helping remodelers and home builders market their businesses effectively. His family's legacy was built on this industry. His company works exclusively work with design-build remodelers and custom home builders.

John Rod
Owner, John Rod & Company (NJ)

With a background in Sales and Marketing, John Rod is an accomplished, national award-winning marketer recognized by his peers for creativity in digital marketing, advertising campaigns, branding, website development and other digital marketing services.

Justin Ross, CAPS
Owner, Design Doctors Construction (WA)

Justin Ross established Design Doctors Construction (a proud Veteran-owned company) in 2008. Design Doctors Construction specializes in providing top-quality kitchen and bathroom remodeling and large-scale interior renovations to the Portland Metro area.

Robina Shepherd, IIDA
Associate, Jacobs (MA)

Robina L. Shepherd is a senior interior designer at Jacobs in Boston, MA.  She’s a passionate designer driven by how the built environment influences people, life, and culture that understands how important it is for all members of the design community to work toward making it a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive space for all. Robina earned her Bachelor of Architecture from Howard University and as an HBCU graduate, deeply believes in the importance of representation in all spaces and was empowered by the majority black and brown faculty of her Alma Mater.  She currently serves as the VP of EDI for the New England Chapter and is a member of the IIDA’s National Equity Council.

Jessica Steeves, NCIDQ
Regional V.P. Sales, Northeast, Builders Design (MD)

Jessica is the Regional Vice President managing sales in the Northeast for Builders Design. She has extensive design, trend and merchandising knowledge. Her experience includes managing a design department with more than 40 designers, acting as designer for a 40,000 sq. ft showroom and as a high-volume inventory merchandise buyer for five stores. She is a Certified Professional Interior Designer.

Brynn Wilson
Sales Development Coordinator, Hook Agency, MN

With over five years of experience in home services marketing and a background rooted in the custom home building and lumber industry, Brynn brings a unique blend of industry knowledge and marketing expertise. At Hook Agency, she works with home service businesses to craft PPC and SEO campaigns, as well as custom designed and developed websites.
